ST-E2 is awesome .... it wirelessly fires Canon's speedlites.

Thanks Hopper... These are Canon Speedlites... they are triggered by the st-e2 (infrared transmitter) that sits on the camera. Basically they are able to communicate wirelessly to trigger the stobes. Strobes are just that... a light source that strobes or flashes during the exposure.

And how much would that run you? I'm scared after that ring light.

*mumbles to self* Why did I have to pick such an expensive hobby...

Yeah... after reading your comment on the ring light... I dont think you want to know :) It sounds like you might still be in the desk lamp budget ;)

*chuckles* Well, at least they don't cost a fortune! When I'm rich and famous off my photographs with the desk lamps THEN I can buy the strobe thingie. :P

How would I build a PVC pipe light stand? This seems like a great suggestion, thank you so much.

same sort of thing as Jason posted, but I don't glue my stuff, and it stores in bags that way. the light stand is a cross on the ground, 4 18" legs held in a + shape by a four way junction, end caps on each leg to keep it stable. Then you screw an end cap to the center of the junction. pop a vertical peice in there and you have your light stand. There are lots of things along this line available as a PDF or adobe download knows collectively as Tinker tubes. I use my PVC light tent all the time.

PS get the schedule 40, the heavy walled stuff. If you get sprinkler line it will sway like reeds in the wind.

Ha... you should see the wishlist I have over there. The more things I buy from there the longer my list gets! They should just make it easy on me and put a button on the website that you can click for one of everything! :)

And they sell the heavy stuff at the Home Depot and/or Lowe's for not much more than the sprinkler line?

PVC is cheap! Very affordable to build things from.
