I'd like to think that it would be the minimum courtesy to a fellow member that if you don't find what they are offering for sale good deal to not go on about it in a public forum. There's just no need for it. Just move on if you don't think it's a good deal. I'm sure that other people who would be shopping can decide for themselves.

Would it be considered out of line in the FM buy/sell forum to ask what type of warranty came with a camera that was being offered for sale?
Opps, there I go again, asking a question. Hope I don't get banned here at dpc.

Then why get all worked up?
Seems like a sweet deal to me. Good luck.

It's certainly been asked for and it has been discussed, and I know it is on the list. With the size of this community, I think it would gain a lot of support as well. Problem is, there are a LOT of other things on the list as well!
Edit: Let's give Brent his thread back! Sorry for the unintentional hijack. |
I'm getting used to this kind of reaction when I post something for sale. I try to offer my stuff to the communities I participate in first, because I hate it when people just post a link to an ebay auction before asking anyone here if they are interested first.

Ah, someone is joining Team 5D! To whomever, you're gonna love it!
Brent, thanks for offering it directly to our community, I know that doing so is not without it's pitfalls. I'm glad to see that you connected with an interested DPCer.

It's an interested FM'er, not to be confused with a MF'er.
Some was wanting a 5D + cash for their 1D Mark II. ;o)

I'm thinking the 200 1.8 will get more use on commercial shoots, but I've used a 400 2.8 and it was awesome, but they also have a used 300 2.8 IS over there...I hate it when I actually have money to spend on gear.
I am getting a studio ringflash though...

Tough decision! The 400/2.8 though, I think. The 200/1.8 is obscenely priced used right now, and You gotta think that Canon at some point will replace it. Nikon has a clear winner with their VR version of the 200/2.0 and I can't believe Canon will leave that alone.

Yeah, but that old version isn't 2 overpriced if it's down towards the 3K mark.
Plus older version of the 400 2.8 won't be serviced by canon anymore (or at least is what I heard).
Plus the 200 1.8 is better/ more useful for lifestyle shots.

Yep, if you can find a good one for $3k, you'd be doing really well. Perhaps with some persistence, it is possible.
I hadn't heard that the older 400/2.8 won't be serviced! That's not good news.
I agree that the 200/1.8 woud be an incredible lens for lifestyle shots, including candid portraits. I briefly used a former coworker's Nikon 200/2.0 AIS and loved it; the Canon 200/1.8 is optically even better than the older Nikon version. Another great option would be the 300/2.8, though the DoF would be slightly larger for the same framing. On a FF cam, I think 300mm might be near ideal for that type of work, and, heaven help me, I am actually considering one, though probably not this year.

Be careful what you wish for! I'll be driving through Denver in about 10 days on my way to PHX. Care to rent it to me for a week or so?
