Leonardo DiVinci had the same brushes as the thousands of Renaissance painters whose names you'll never know. It's no different with PS and photography. Give the same camera and computer to ten different people and you'll get ten different images of the same thing. Some will be amazing and some will suck. The interesting thing is that your opinion will differ from mine as to which are great.
The camera is the canvas, the computer the brushes. Learn your PS skills and Camera skills. Then express yourself the best you can.

All that said, it's nearly impossible to create incredible art images without post processing - digitally or with film.

Perhaps no photoshop, but definitely some darkroom techniques being used.

For example, the picture of the boy and the elephants out in the water. Amazingly enough, the center of the picture is all lit up, while the surrounding area is dark. Magical sunlight? Or vignetting in the darkroom?

It is a tool, among many. What makes the photographer is the camera in hand releasing the shutter, what makes the artist is the proper use of all the tools, talents and skills before, during and after the shutter flys. Thus, I am a rookie photographer aspiring to artistry.

Lots of very effective and accomplished darkroom work in these images, including the use of toner to achieve the sepiatone. Also, I venture a guess that considerable thought was put into cropping the originals.
