If its basic editing and if you don't know the steps the filter takes I'd suggest you don't use it. Its quite possible you can replicate the plugin withing the challenge rules. Someting I've tried is to use 'a' plugin on the image then try to replicate it using basic editing tools.

ok...thanks. Ill just skip it then. it looks real simple but one of the steps says "highpass: radius=5pixels" and i dont know what this is. I dont see it on my photoshop 7.0 anywhere. I think Id rather be safe than sorry...
thanks a ton.

The highpass filter in photoshop requires a layer other than an adjustment layer and also requires the blending mode to be changed from normal therefore it is definately not legal in a basic editing challenge.
In CS2 in under filter/other/highpass.

thanks....i knew there was a good reason not to use it just wasnt sure exactly why. the highpass isnt on my PS7 so i got the plugin action moday. I just d/l a free trial version of the CS2(lastnight) that has the highpass filter. I happen to like what it does to a photo (you can call me the filter queen now...lol)
Now all i have to do is convience hubby to fork over the money for the CS2...any ideas on how to get him to do that? hmmm..dilema time. do i beg for the CS2 or go for a new lens, background, lights, flash with diffuser, or backpack to carry all my new toys in...hmmmmmmm
What would u pick?
