I have my camera
i just dont know where to go from there. Any suggestion on basic items that i could purchase to get me going and help me improve my photographing abilities. lights..stuff like that.

The camera's all you need for now.

Go out, take some pictures of subjects you like.

Take different angles, and comapre which one you like better. Take it center, off-center, aligned to top, bottom, etc.

Post them here, and get opinions, critiques, and learn from the experience. Next time you go out, you will be a little bit better.

Rinse and repeat. (buy the other equipment as you grow as a photographer)

this, i have tried, been doing it for about 6 months, i got out with my friend now
im thinking more like, at home stuff though
you know what i mean?

Do not use "P", point and shoot, or any of the pre-programed modes ever again. Buy a book, learn about exposure, and use Av, Tv, or M from now on. (unless you already do)

When you know what you want/need and know why you want/need it, then you should go out and buy it.
