I would like for the site to allow each of us to block comments just from certain users. That way we can get comments from everyone but those that we feel have a hidden agenda, or have a habit of leaving us undesirable comments. It gets tiring having to bother admin to have said comments removed, or be stuck with them tagged to our images.
I'm not saying we can pick and choose, leaving only favorable comments. Just to block specific people from commenting.

Has this suggestion been made simply because somebody has stated they are becoming bored at being able to identify your Pugs? Surely negative, positive, creepy, political, undesirable, insulting and down right weird comments are part and parcel of the interpretation of anybody's photography.
A bad idea in my book. |

i totally agree. I mean even though the "comment" was said the user still stated some helpful facts and you want to block them. it isnt a surprise which entries are yours and its funny that nobody has brought this up before since everyone complains about the entries not being anonymous. especially since your entries still score pretty high for 1) being a dog and 2) having you constantly state in the forums about your dogs. everyone who reads the forums knows their your dogs.

There is another issue going on which is likely prompting her to ask this.
Linda, I think at this time, this type of situations is rare enough that it's best dealt with through report post and/or the ticketing system. On a sitewide basis, I don't think there's enough of a need or demand for this feature to warrant the amount of time it would take to code it.
Just my personal opinion; I'm not speaking as Site Council here.

NO - this has nothing to do with that person. This is not targeted at anyone in specific. I just have seen this option on other sites and think it would be nice to offer here. So, before you go jumping to conclusions, perhaps you could ask me in PM.
Terry - thank you for jumping in before everyone assumed the first reply post was accurate. Yes, this was posted with the other situation at hand, but it has been a thought for some time.

No conclusion was made, it was merely a question that stemmed from curiousity rather than assured judgement.
Perhaps you shouldn't have jumped to the conclusion that I had jumped to a conclusion ;)
Abusive PMs and abusive comments on a personal level should be dealt with in the appropriate manner. Giving users the capabilities to censor other particular users comments would only lead to further trouble, pettiness, and general unhappiness...in my view. |
