Is there a tut, or can someone exlplain the corect way to meter a shot? I was told it might be better to meter the shot according to the spray in this shot
Can someone explain?
While most of my shots come out pretty decent, I'd like to know whether the shots can be better or not (like that one).

When something is extra bright like that, I would meter to the part that is most likely to look blown out, so the camera can compensate for it. But I have to admit that I normally experiment unscientifically and keep checking my histogram after the shot is taken to see if there are any blown out blinkies. If so, which I imagine there might be on this particular shot, then I try stopping down the aperture or speeding up the shutter speed to compensate for it.
That is really a cool photo by the way. I love it!

Thank you. I had a blast watching him ski and taking the shots. Though they didn't come out the best.
Maybe I asked the wrong way. I needed to know is what is the difference between spot metering and any other type of metering? I keep reading threads that will say something like 'Well, if you meter the camera yadda yadda'. I'm still not 100% sure what that means.
I want to take better photos dang it
