Count me in Chris.
03/20/2006 10:45:42 PM · #27
Sorry to hear. I sent you a PM.
03/20/2006 10:46:57 PM · #28
Originally, I pm'd you about your lights and studio equipment, but the more I think about, the more I hate thinking about someone making such a drastic move!

Does anyone have any idea what a complete package like this would cost second hand? A- If I can convince my husband to elect not to have corrective eye surgery, I might have the funds. Nah, guess I better not ask him to walk around blind! B- On a more serious note, I bet there would be others who would pool together those funds to help raise those estimated funds.

Check fredmiranda.com to see pricing in that group of sellers.

As a seller, I think that you are usually a little bit safer using Ebay.

As a buyer, you are a little bit safer using fredmiranda.com

I think current prices on 20D bodies is around 800-900 USD.

I can put in a few $$ too... Heh, man, we're family here!!

If you have a paypal account, we can deposit money that way. It's free to set up and will go directly into your bank account once the money is oked by you to be transferred there. Takes about 2 days.

Chris,

I don't know if Aussie dollars are worth enough but I'd like to help too. If anyone is doing anything and I can help from here please let me know.

Take care. It seems like you have some good mates out there.

agreed... I think we should make a fund for him. If everyone kicked in 25 dollars, not much to most, it could mean the world to him right now

hell... i just gave 20 bucks to a homeless guy I saw in the city at midnight. 10 minutes later I saw him speedwalking into a convenience store... that 20 dollars would have been blown by me and I wouldn't have known the difference... to that guy... I bet it was the world

I'm fairly new to this sight and I don't know many people her but I would hate to lose any of my stuff, I think the way that everyone is pulling together for one person says a lot, if only the whole world could be this way. pm me with a paypal account, I'm good for at least $20, it's not much but every little bit helps.

As much as it pains a Nikon guy to help out a Canon guy .......

you can count me in for $50. I'll save this thread and check back to see how we will do this.

I think he is going Nikon! :p

seriously, I might consider the 20D if we aren't so far apart.

That's what I'm talking about! Only 4 people offering what they can afford to part with for the benefit of another and we're at 195.00!

It's 2:20 in the morning DPC (Eastern) time... by tomorrow there will be many other people willing to help.

Even if we only manage to save his camera that would be something.... The thought of a photographer with no camera just makes me want to cry!

I honestly appreciate all of this help and concern - thank you all. However, I must ask that you do not part with your funds on my behalf...please do not do this. I know I have done exactly that for others and that is my nature, but money is not the only problem here.

I would to go into detail, but at this time just can't. Let us just say that yesterday my world was shattered in a way that money just will not repair.

Again, I appreciate all the thoughts, but please cease and desist in this effort. Thank you all.

Chris - I hope your present situation improves for you. I know from experience some passages in my life have seemed like the end of the world and at the time it looked so dark for me but it did work out in the end, yes it was painful and yes I thought it was something I could never get through but I did and I know that you will also.

From 1 alion to another alien .. I FEEL YOUR PAIN BROTHER. Do what you have to do but don't cut yourself short, Im sure the people offering money for you would also be glad to buy things off you on the condition that you can also buy them back when the trauma has passed. I have done this with friends before. I bought my friends Gibson guitar for $500 and a year later when he found himself again I sold it him back for $500 kind of like a lease thing...

That MIGHT be a way round this nightmare.

Trust me friend I DO really know how you feel.

If I was in the US I'de certainly lease a few things from you. I wish you luck.

May I also say that this DPC community is AMAZING how we help people, this thread has given my eye a tear.

Bless you all.
