Hiked through part of the Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge this morning. Its on the southwest shore of Lake Erie. Here are a couple of the better pics taken with the EF 100-400mm f/4.5 - 5.6 L lens. I think all the shots were at 400mm.

Saw this fellow on the way home. He is frequently at an intersection near the house. Not sure if its an immature Redtail or a mature Broadwing.

Thanks for sharing your walk, enjoyed perusing your photos. I think the hawk is an immature redtail, looks exactly like the one I trapped for falconry in the 1984.

I was using the EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L lens, and think all the shots were at 400mm. I'm very happy with the lens, though sometimes, like today I have difficulty getting it to focus. Usually, when there is a single bird against the sky.
