My studio space is far enough along the constuction path that i had a chance to actually play today.
One strobe to camera left with a 24x24 softbox, one camera left, low and near the backdrop wiht barn doors and gelled where noted.
to camera right was a silver reflector. All shots at ISO100 with my Tamron 24-135 SP lens, no PP work unless noted.
I had a very rare time at home alone, so these are by necessity self portraits, so i apologize beforehand if the mug hurts your eyes LOL
Thing's I learned - auto WB and studio strobes can cause WB issues (the BG and me are all that's in teh shot, so the camera is really guessing at neutral gray and not getting it right 50% of the time), i want another strobe, I need a short stand for the BG strobe. 300WS is plenty for this type of shot, gels do altar the BG nicely, but eat light, i can do hikey with my white sheet, but should get some paper as it'd flatter. I did not involve my lumedyne strobe or metz flash in any way at this time...KISS principle at work
this is the 'real' BG - a walmart muslin that i have died, tie died and died again. Hmmm...better but not there yet IMO
same as the last, but with a green gel on the BG light.
same but with a purple gel. neat, huh?
High Key- your basic white sheet easily blown out with a 300ws stobe. Ill have to try a full body shot (not my body ;) to see if this is enough power for a bigger blow out, so to speak.
same as above but with a blue gel. notice how it's not blown out at all and you can now see the wrinkles in teh sheet - so i need paper!
Chromakey effect -actually took the above shot, used the magicx wand to grab the BG, invert selection and dropped in part of shot form my trip to Phipps last month.
This is the only one i sharpended and then blurred the BG a bit. On all of them I'm getting an odd BG reflection in my glasses and here it's accentuated with the blur i did. Not sure how to conunteract that issue with glasses...off to try a deja vu shot now!
