Yep dear felows Konica Minolta is closing down , after so many years of camera making they cannot compete no more with the market and demand ,so they are packing it in .Yep no more Konica Minolta apparently all the service and parts will be run by some other company not known as yet ,so i will strongly advise you DO NOT BUY any of theyr products as it looks it all abit shady . They will close by the end of the year as may be few of you may already know or may be not!?
The sadest thing of all is they are one of the oldest camera makers if not the first ,i am not qute sure .
Thats good bye from me Konica Minolta .

Yep. It's been known for a while. However, they didn't farm it out to an unknown company.......unless Sony is unknown. :)

Yeah, makes sense now why it's been difficult finding the lenses I want. Oh, what to do?

As long as I have your personal guarantee then that is good enough for me. Do you have any other insider info that might help us out?

No wories ,will keep you posted .At the moment the situation is a litle bit like Sony and Erricson before they became one Trade mark in the Mobilephone bussiness .May be we will be for surprise next year with a name like Sonycaminolta ,lol .As it seems Sony have the habbit of taking over stailed and falling apart companies and making a huge profit in the end but we will see.

Actually, I'm sorta sad at the loss, all my 35mm equipment is Minolta (minus the Konica) brand.

I think it's a great loss. KM has been around for a long time and has always been a reputable company. Also, the 7D beat out almost 200 cameras to win the 2005 Camera Grand Prix. It looks like they had everything down but the marketing :>).

Hopefully some sort of Pheonix will rise from the ashes.
If you really look at it though, this is kind of like Leica having to team with Panasonic to make the Lumix cameras. Their new 4/3 SLR looks pretty nice, besides the 4/3 part that is.

Sony has got that covered, I believe :)
If there's anything Sony cant do, marketing and $$$ isn't one of them. |
