I posted this in the Q&A forum as well but thought I would put it here too as I really want to find out how to do this ... thank you for understanding.. If this question has been asked and answered, I extend my apologies... I would like to find out the exact steps to take to select the focal point of my photo, isolate it and then create a new background or even blur the one it has.... I have PS7 - I will put the example of the great blue heron I shot. This bird is excellent at placing itself in reeds and such that blend with its colors... I have a few decent photos that would look much better if I were able to clean up the bg..... I tried the magic want to select, the magnetic lasso too. (big sigh). I am not very good at post processing. Please point me in the right direction or, if you have time, take my shot and change the bg and then give me a step-by-step guide as to how you did that.... thank you so much in advance. Mac

308165.jpg edit for image...

have you tried extraction tool at all? do that and make a new layer out of it (ctrl+J) then play with the background...
