What was the most time someone spent preparing for a photo? for my photo Complexion From the Beginning, I spent 6 hours preparing beforehand, and then took caffeine pills so I could stay up to take the shots that night. I then waited until around 2 o'clock and then shot for a little over an hour and spent half an hour afterwards cleaning up. Special thanks to Nate Goldman (the one on the left of the shot), Andrew Press (the one to the right) and Smeegal for devoting hours of their time for preparation and photos.

I have to say i have never spent so long to set up a shot, but I don't usually take set up shots, I tend to take my camera and walk around finding things to shoot that interest me. I did want to say tho that this is a really great shot, so i think the time and effort you put into it really shows.

I've only spent that much time and effort looking for a title or a photo to fit that title or...
for someone like you who had everything already set up, ready for me to come along and -snap!- take the shot, ad hoc and en passant... or

looking for love, perhaps...

What could possibly take 6 hours to setup?! Do you mean that experimenting with the lights, exposure, etc., took all that time? I've spent a long time viewing my shots in Photoshop, then going back and changing the lighting, setup, camera settings, etc., taking more shots, back to my computer to view them in PS, etc., etc. That does take a lot of time, but even there I haven't spent more then a few hours doing it (although I probably should have in some situations :)

Let me explain, I live in dorm so my recourses are limited. First, I went around to houses of friends of mine to get extension cords for the lamp. I couldnt take the shot inside because the light would be enclosed in the room and everything would be brighter, so when taking it outside, the light doesn't get closed in. Then I had to get chairs, that took awhile because not too many people are willing to lend their expensive chairs, but when I finally got two of them, I had to carry them to the dorm. then I also had to get black construction paper, to cover the white table to make the pieces stand out more. After that, everything was carried outside, and the extension cords were set up and then began to shoot. But, to my dissapointment, it started to drizzle so the paper doesn't look like it should. Also, I had to scout for the darkest street, and a spot furthest from street lamps so I had carry further. So it may seem long, but it took six hours. Nate Goldman is my witness!!!
