Two shot this morning, "with" and "without"... These are essentially straight from RAW btw...
Which works better for you, given that the flyby gull is OOF and all? BTW, note another gull in flight upper right in that shot...

The second; whilst there is some sense of motion, quite naturally, with the first, the sky's edge is strange without purpose, and in the end I don't think the motion gull adds much that the static one doesn't. |

i see why you're asking. while the bird is a little annoying, the clouds are so much better in the bird one than in the second.

I have a version of the first without the gull, just haven't processed it yet. For me, the major difference (discounting the gull) is that I'm getting a pronounced sun reflection in the second one, it's more diffuse in the first set. They are separated by several minutes. So it's a matter of clouds vs reflection, though the gull tickles me a little :-)

I'm partial to the second one with the lone gull at the water's edge. |

I like the first one. The second one looks very nice, don't get me wrong, but the first one has more "something" to it. Just not sure what that "something" is... good thing I don't write for a living, huh? |

I'm torn. I like having the three gulls in the first one, especially the one in the distance...I like the water better in the first. I like the swimming gull better in the second.
Overall, I think I like the first better...no wait, the second one.
Ok. The first one. |

The second, the blur of the gull in the first is distracting.
I would clone the top right gull into the second pic though.
Gorgeous colours.

Though the reflection on the second one is nice, I like the range of the first one better. The detail in the water, the bird in the sky all add to making it my pic. I guess it really is what kind of emotion you are trying to express. The first seems to hint more to being a happy photo, and the second one looks darker more sinister because of the darker clouds. I definately would remove the blurred gull in the first though. |
