Often times we like to group cameras into 2 groups - P&S and dSLR.
I read somewhere that it is wrong because a dSLR is also be a P&S camera when used as such.

It ought to be grouped as - dSLR and EVF since both terms points to the way the imaging mechanism works inside the camera. While P&S is actually a term used to describe how a photographer takes a photo in automatic modes.

Does this sounds right to you?

p/s = non or very limited manual control
prosumer = more manual control
dSLR = total control

My $.02 I have seen some AMAZING so called p/s images it make's me want to get one. I mean look at this p/s Image.

If all I had to go by was the Image I would think it was a Fancy Camera that took the shot. I see great control!

Guys, hey I'm not starting a dSLR and compact camera debate here =_=;
I've just read somewhere that the correct term to use is actually EVF cameras and thought maybe you guys can see if you agree with that.

Faidoi, I think a photographer can never have total control, unlike, a painter.
