Better than b&h's price by $9 and we all like free shipping...why does amazone claim a regular price of $420?

If the regular price was $200, it would only be 10% off. Now, it's a 57% markdown. Perhaps it comes with ginsu knives?

I have one. Don't use it at all. Will part with it for $100...

Its not new though... And very soft at 300mm...

what is that, like 80% off?
Does it come with a Ginsu Knife?

It can...if you ask nicely. Have the ginsu bagel cutter too. :)

Amazon has many more lenses on sale. They may not be cheaper than other sources, though.

I'd love to get the 70-300 DO IS for street shooting. But, at the price of a new 20D, I gotta think on that one. The lens or the camera? The lens or the camera? Argh...

The new 70-300 (non-DO) is very much improved over the older models, and less than $600. It was on my Christmas list.

This is probably a dumb question but..

Are all Canon lenses interchangeable between the digital EOS Rebels and the film EOS Rebels? Or do I need to be careful and check for fine print somewhere before I make a purchase?

I like the price for the $180 lens but I get confused since it mentions it being for Canon SLR Cameras but nothing about dSLR..

I have both types of Rebels and I'd prefer versatile lenses but if push came to shove I'd probably pick lenses that are exclusive to the digital camera if I have to choose one or the other.

Thanks!

the 75-300 I have was bought for my film camera. My digital camera inherited it for a while...

The advantage of the DO is its size. I will check into the newer 75-300. And into the Tamron one. Anyone with experience?

Any EOS (EF mount or EF-S mount) lens will fit the digital rebel. No problem there. There are a few lenses (the EF-S lenses) that only fit some of the digital SLRs but do not fit the EOS film SLRs or some older DSLRs (e.g. 10D). Bottom line, if it says it's for Canon EOS it will fit all the Canon DSLRs.
I agree with previous posters that the 75-300 is really not a ver good lens, pretty much everyone says the same thing... gets soft above 200mm, and is especially soft at the long end (300mm). So you're paying for range that really isn't that useful.
Save a little more and go for something like the 70-200 f/4, an absolutely stunning performer.

Plenty of shots here, and they look great to me.
