How do some of them compare to the Canon Speedlite series? The third-party flash that I was told is good is the Sigma 500 Super DG. Anybody have good experiences with it and how well does it measure-up? Thanx!

I use the super dg, and it is a good alternative to the 550 for the price, but the lower price does come at a cost of a somewhat clunky interface and a less solid build than the more expensive alternative. It lets you have a huge variety of options, like the 550, and I would buy it again, over the 420 because of the better options, and over the 550 because of the price.
