OK. I have tickets to the NCAA Div III men's ice hockey playoffs and want to try to get some shots while I'm there. I will be seated in the section to the left of and behind the home bench 10 rows back. I'm looking for any suggestions as far as settings or lenses to use from someone who's done this before. My plan is to use my AF-S 80-200 f/2.8 with my D200 at ISO 400 shooting RAW on shutter priority to keep it above 1/250 sec with available light. Does this sound like a reasonable approach, and is the shutter speed going to be high enough? The games will be this weekend, so any help prior would be appreciated. Thanks.

I've shot my intramural teams from the bench a couple times. The light you get from the ice is actually suprisingly good. Didn't have a problem using my less than speedy lenses.

I'm sorry but I can't give you loads of details now!!!!
But I shoot our local hockey team quite a lot.
They are ECHL.
And all I have to do is a bit of curves in PS2 and the pictures come out fine.
This is what I'm talking about hockey
PM me and I can give you more specifics, sorry, but I'm just really busy at this very moment

Thanks for the replies. Anyone else with some thoughts on the best way to do this?
