Im sure this is not the place for this question but im asking it anyway.

Im new to MAC and cant play most of my AVI files, ive tried Divx, 3ivx. They work on WMP but cant play them in Quicktime or Front Row.

Im running Tiger on a intel solo mini mac.

Any Suggestions?

Some of those files won't work on a Mac. You don't need that porn anyway. ;o)

They work with Windows media player for OSX just not with quicktime, is that strange is quicktime not compatible with certain AVIs?

The same way Quicktime works on Windows, it is not a multi-capable media player. It does not play all formats - neither does WMP although it does appears to be since it supports a very large selection of file formats. I'm not too sure if you could download the codecs for Quicktime so that it could play your file (I'm not a Quicktime fan) but it's possible.

Sadly there are just some files that are a pain to get to play on the mac, mostly has to do with the codecs availabe on mac vs pc. Best bet at playing them is MPlayer. Or as said before me, VLC.

Download and install Flip4Mac free from Microsoft. It'll play WMV and AVI files seamlessly from within Quicktime. (Windows Media Player for Mac is discontinued).
