It was in the mid-40 degree F range the past three days. A lot melted around her. Now today we're having a blizzard. So what do three very stupid people do....they try to go out on the ice in Bay De Noc, on an ATV and go ice fishing. The ice broke and now the three are stuck on an ice block floating out in the bay . High winds have prevented the helicopter from being able to take off and rescue them . The coast guard is now on the way, but will take an hour yet to get to them - by then it will be pitch black out. I never cease to be amazed by the stupidity of mankind.

As horrible as this is for news, stupidity floats. They are very lucky to have that ice block with 40 degrees for several days. I am sure their lesson will have been well learned and I just hope they are all ok in the end.
In the meantime, there is an "Oops" Challenge over at Fotofight. Go get your shot!!!!!! :)

at least they are floating
with such a warm winter we've had atleast three sets of people break through the ice on skidoos ..

News just came in with a break - the chopper finally was able to life off and is heading out for them. Hopefully the winds wont kick up that way again and make them crash! I'm about 2 hours north of this (in good weather) little mishap, so there won't be pictures. The winds here are still gusting pretty high, but the Escanaba area is usually milder.

Yes - not very clever. Reminds me of an instance last year in Richards Bay. We do alot of deep sea fishing with smallish motor boats. Rule is - You gotta have two outboard motors on the boat and the boat must be a bove a certain size - Two guys decides that they wanna leave the bay in their small boat with one outboard -
Go out deep, motor dies and these two are stuck there for 3 days - at least they had enough beer to keep the thirst away, but the Natal sun had its way with them.
