From the comments left, it appears that I have once again, entered the wrong image.
Entered this-
Instead of this-
Either way it was cool to see thousands of snow geese on the lake.

I would agree, the second image is by far the better of the two.

I like both, but I agree - you made the wrong choise. The second one has the goose with the open wings to pull your attention (focal point) and the white is not so overpowering.
I have two of these as pets at my parents place - they are noisy and very naughty. Good watchdogs though. Nobody can enter the yard without them making some major noise. They also have a nasty bite.

Add me to the list - the second one is great (added interest, better exposure). |

I donno. I gave the entry a 9. I thought it was fantatsic and loved the PP. I believe the little bit of beach/ground in the foreground is a real plus. In the second image, the one goose stands out, draws the eye. I suppose it'd have "done better", but overall I like the entry better. Maybe if you PP'd the second like the first I'd feel differently, I'm not sure.
Grossly underrated entry IMO.

I have been playing with this Orton effect. It can produce cool images. I need to learn to leave it alone sometimes.

Don't feel down, I prefer the second as well. I was in two minds about my square challenge shot and I think chose the wrong one (2 commenters thought my non submission would have ribboned) the entry ended up at 5.8 after a midweek low of 5.2. its hard enough taking shots for a challenge, if I get more than one idea I rarely choose the best one.

You aren't kiddin' about the noise! I could here these from a mile away.
