On a good photoshoot I usualy take about 200 photos. After uploading them it takes me several hours to go through each shot. One exaqpmle is a rodeo I shot over the weekend. I have about 150 shots. What are your techniques for thinning the numbers? How do you pick the ones you are going to process? How long does it take you to upload, sort, and clean up a batch of photo's?

I do it in two passes. I go through all of them and write down the numbers of all the photos I like. The first pass is just a quick pass. I then copy all those images to a separate folder and make a 2nd pass through them, this time I look much closer, zoom in... Then sometimes a few more will drop out once I start editing.

I do what louddog does. I use some viewer that is part of windows as it can view jpg and raw images, lets me zoom in, etc. This i do for the first pass on most days out (not weddings). this is good for full screen viewing and easy navigation throuhg all the files.
I then open the directory of good images in DPP (canon's editing software) if i shot RAW and sort some more there, adjust WB and exposure if needed. This is where I start on weddings - from here i can drag and sort into different directories directly and get thumbnails and histograms of all the files easily.
then i go to PS and begin editing (cropping, resizing, etc)
Timewise - my last wedding had 410 captures, 380 or so as RAW files. 3 or 4 hours or so up to the PS part. For weddings albums I skip PS for 98% of the images and use Fotofusion. For indivisual prints I play, i mean, work, in PS.
