I like the concept and the photoshopping is fairly clean and convincing. Only thing is, if it's your daughter in both images, she appears more "grown up" in the framed image--it would seem more appropriate (to me) if she were holding a framed image in which she appeared younger.

conceptually it is very interesting.

You have actually created a story.

the bad news is, the blacks need help in both images. the whites in the b&w are barely in, they are almost blown as a matter of fact. The whites in the color image are blown. Remember that you always need to have texture inside your blacks and whites along with the tonal values of grey inbetween.

The color image is soft on the focus, Comp is great, nice movement, great texture, nice dof, lighting flat in b&w, lighting in color image ok, overall a nice attempt that can get better with time.

Also thought of that - thing is - she was younger in the framed photo (6 months younger). LOL - I printed the photo at home - she got hold of it and used a black marker pen to draw fish (or something that looked like fish) on the photo. Then she wanted me to put it in a frame and hang it in her room - she even showed me where she wanted it.
I am going to have my work cut out for me when she is a teenager.
