Oh SNAP! $950! $170 of that is an interest charge!
That's a nice letter to come home to just before leaving for March break. The worst part is, I actually screwed up. It was my first year as my own business and I put a number in a box where it didn't belong.
Bang, years later I get dinged for it... I hate doing taxes, my kids know to stay clear.
My government at work. I guess the new Harper government is working on ways to finance their new cars & steak dinners, because I just got home from getting a haircut and my barber got dinged for $1,000 in a 2004 reassessment yesterday.
This is a bummer.

A good accountant takes care of those kinds of problems.
My brother (CPA) handles things like this every week while getting a feel for new clients. He routinely looks back thru the last several years and corrects any errors. He just likes starting out knowing everything is ok.
Anyway, the trend is that when there are problems in one year there are likely more problems later. Probably not what you wanted to hear, but the good news is when looked at over several years the problems often balance out good for bad.
Hope your day gets better. :D

.........and the Harper government would have what to do with that exactly. When one considers that countless numbers of Liberal governments have wasted, mismanaged and frittered away countless millions, I would think you might consider the source of your problems to be other than a government that has yet to sign any financial expenditures.
Just a thought.

I just got an assessment from the taxman for nov-dec 2005, just for 2 months they assess that I should pay $ 22.900. VAT for a buisness that has been on hold because I'm going to school.
it's a good thing I'm returning my taxreport monday so the assessment will be dropped..

Oh man, so 2002 reassessed for $950..
Now I got another letter for 2004 reassessed owing $64.
I hope that means my 2003 escaped unscathed.
:-(
Also, our child tax benefit cheque came with a letter saying they overpaid last year's by some tiny amount, I think $14. So they took that off the already tiny cheque.
They're going nuts!
