Ok. My profile as been viewed over 60 times in just the last 2 days (which seems like a lot to me), but my "comments received" has been sitting at 498 since early yesterday. I've got this fixation with breaking the 500 barrier and it's distracting me from my day job. :-) Someone please leave me a couple a comments and "make me happy" - just two more comments, that's all I ask... :-)

BTW, I just want to give a public shout-out of appreciation to Jutilda. If I could give out Frequent-Commenter Reward Miles, she would be sitting in 1st Class (actually, she already is!). :-)

Perfect! Thanks everyone - you made my weekend! Now, only 99 more until 600, that's all I ask. :-) Just kidding.

Thanks for the comment Jennifer. It was early morning and she just woke up and caught me taking a few pics of the house we had rented. She was standing at the doorway to the kitchen. Her look, dress and the whole scene just reminded me of one of those 1930's migrant worker pictures, so I knew when I took the picture it was going to be B/W. The other is a picture from the "maids" quarters - what you are looking at is the sink/laundry area (the kitchen does not have a sink, all the dish washing is done outdoors). The ladder that you can barely see right by the door leads to the valve on the roof we had to turn off/on every morning/night in order to get running water. The city provides water 8am-4pm, but you have to open and close the pipes to the tank in order to fill it for running water at night (for all water purposes - including the toilets). This house we stayed at in Peru was considered a very nice place, by Peruvian standards. My kids got a great education from this trip on just how lucky they are and how much they have here in the US.
