You'd thin it was an advantage, and I tried to use it in "30 Seconds or More", but to my suprise my score didn't change much after validation. Yes, it makes a few people ponder the image, but I don't think it changes the overall voting on the image.

There are a LOT of photos that need it. I've seen photos of mine and others get knocked for being photoshopped that were not. There scores get hit. And that "Validated" is sometimes what makes the difference.

I think it is a weak entry that "needs" a validation notice to get people to consider it legal.
It occurs to me that we may be over-estimating how much downgrading of votes is going on due to voters not voting an image as if an image were legal when there is the appearance of violating editing rules. Perhaps a major portion of the lower votes are coming from people who are voting as if the image were legal but simply don't care for the look of images that are so heavily edited as to raise suspicions.
If the validation notice is kept in the future, I think it would be fairer to post it on all images once the SC makes their decision, not just the ones with multiple requests. Exclude the ones where the entering photog's request for pre-validation is the only one received.

Eh? Don't they put it on all images that are validated - multiple request or not? |
