Looking for information on creating slide shows that can run in business DVD players. Have saved pics to CD's, however they will only do slide shows on computers. I have access to PS elements version 2 and PSP8. Am running windows. Assume I know nothing about the process (which may be pretty accurate).

Thanks - Flash

You need a DVD burner - its different than CD burner.

Edit to mention: ... but cheap, you can get one for around $50

Please take this advice with caution - I am not expert, but here goes my idea:

DVD players usually WILL play CD's, but not every type of disk, and it depends on what you saved the slide show AS.

You might have to try different settings under the "create slideshow" part to see which one will work.

For creating slideshows, I like ProShow Gold from www.photodex.com as it is pretty flexible plus it lets me create DVD slideshows as well as PC executables from the same source (you select your output after desiging the show).

Here in Utah, most weddings that I shoot have several hours between the wedding itself and the reception. During that time, I process the images (conversion from raw) and put them into a slideshow which I then run from my laptop (connected to a large LCD monitor). That same show I can later turn into a DVD for them if they decide to purchase it (though the final product is much more refined than the wedding day slideshow).

Thanks Cindi and Karin. I am running an HP Media Center tower. I believe I can write both cd's and dvd's, however I will have to double check. I have only wriiten cd's and played dvd's. Perhaps that is my limit. Regarding the creation of the slide show, what programs are you using or recommending?

I suggest downloading the free Microsoft Photo story.... I'll go find a link for you

Edited to add the link.

Also note (and I seldom see it mentioned here) that MovieMaker is part of Windows XP.

Start > All Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Moviemaker.

It is not just for Video, I use it with Stills (jpgs) for Slideshows when ever I need more than what Photostory gives. I use it all the time for Demos and Customer Presentations (product photo heavy).

Photostory is nice and easy panning, effects etc...

MovieMaker has better text abilities, sound track is easier to work with, and if you wish; you can narrate your photos even with a soundtrack running. MM has more effects... and timings are more manageable.

The only thing I don't like is that picture panning like Photostory3 is not as easy in MovieMaker...doable but not as easy.

I switch between the two... if someone wants something nice in 5 minutes I use Photostory if I have to put formatted text screens in it I will use MovieMaker.
