I just got a NEW Canon EOS 10D yesterday and have been shooting all day. The first shoots was on fully automatic and the camera used the flash because it was little dark where I was. No problem with that. Then I got out and there was sunny so I did not need the flash. Now when there is dark again the flash does not work. Not even with the fully automatic.

Please tell me if this is some settings or if the flash is broken.

:(

You can manually activate the flash by pushing the flash button on the front of the camera.

That said, there are a LOT of controls on the 10D, and not all of them are obvious. Time spent reading your manual is time well-spent.

I have read the manual back and forward ... reset all setting and nothing happens. This button on the front dos not do anything when I press it. I have tryed every button on the camera but the flash does not work.

Can you release the flash (with the button) if the camera is in P mode?

It appears you cannot manually release the flash if the camera is in full auto mode (the green box).

In that case I would suggest contacting the shop where you got the camera.

dumb question, but is the camera turned on when you're pressing the flash release? I know it won't release if it isn't engaged. If not, you better contact Canon customer service.
