Drove around Yorktown this afternoon looking for something. Ran into this row of pansies. I took quite a few shots of them but this turned out to be my favorite. Taken with my 14-45mm lens. I rarely use that lens and am just starting to mess around with it.

Nice Pansies, cool crop.

Seems to be a little dark in some places for me. I might have brought the shadows up a bit to even the lighting across the flower petals and possibly added a touch more USM to sharpen it a bit.

Ty.

I'm trying not to edit so much lately. But it gives me an idea of what to look for next time.

As I said in another post...I don't know enough about photography to critique...but all photos can look great many different ways. I feel that if the greenery had been more in focus and brighter that it might have taken away from the flowers?...either way it's still a nice looking photo! (pansies are my favorite flower ;-)...) I just hope I can get shots half as good as those seen here...everyone does great work!

I've never used that camera, but I guess it's the same as Canon SLR's where by you will need to do at least basic sharpening and levels in post-processing, because less work is done in the camera, unlike with P&S's where all of that is done in camera.

oh thank you for that bit of info. I hadn't thought of that. Normally I do adjust the curves accordingly and sharpen as needed. But lately I've been trying to see how it is just out of the camera.

Yea, I'm only going on what I've read on the forums here and with my own experience of the 350D vs a P&S and at teh very least sharpening afterwards is a must it seems.
