I'm using a Canon 10D which is approx. 18 months old. My flash sync lead is plugged in to the usual socket & my 2 external flashes fire when the camera is taking landscape shots. However when I turn the camera clockwise so as to take portrait shots the flashes do not fire. However, if I turn the camera anti-clockwise & take portrait shots the flashes fire as per usual. This has only been a recent problem & it's now driving me mad as I'm right handed. I really don't think that there's a problem with the sync lead. Please help me someone!!!

The first possibility I'd check is the connection from the synch lead to the camera. It might be that when the camera is rotated a certain way, the lead moves and loses contact.
I would try a different synch lead to determine if the problem is still there. I'd also try holding/taping the synch lead in position so it cannot move and see if that eliminates the problem.
If neither of these do the trick, then the problem might be an internal connection :-(
You've really just got to experiment to narrow down the possibilities. Doing so on your own time will likely save you money in the long run since you're narrowing the things that need to be troubleshot.
