Mine is exactly 640X640 but doesn't look square because of subject placement and size.

When I had my entry ready to submit, I had it at 610 by 610. It did look oblong though. I never did enter it, or the challenge, but sometimes it can look out of whack even when it isn't. Because I tried this little experiment, this is why I am not downing any of the photos unless it is painfully obvious. I haven't seen any. As a matter of fact, some of the best shots I have seen to date on this site are in the square crop. I believe I chose a few favs!

I seriously could not see a single entry which was obviously "not square". They might have been 1 or 5 pixels off, but as long as it doesn't look rectangular, I couldn't care less. Unless you have a square screen, you are going to have to look very very carefully to be able to notice an entry with such small divergence.

I'm sure I could find it since you have given it's exact dimensions and it's unlikely anyone else's entry has the same measurements; and therefore you have been as cavalier about preserving anonymity as you have been in adhereing to the challenge topic.

But I have a question for you: Why didn't you just make it square?

it could be pretty easily argued, that if your shot is EXACTLY square but people keep looking at it and thinking its not square, surely that means the picture is not balanced or composed to fit in a square crop, which was part of the challenge!!!!

But it can look balanced AND composed, just not square. The challenge says it should BE square, not look square. I would give big points to someone who could make a square look not square.
