Actually, it isn't really a change, more just like a small tweak. I think the challenge descrition should be more prevalent on the voting page. Maybe put it in bold type just below the challenge name. I think sometimes people are voting who perhaps didn't enter a challenge are voting entirely on the name of the challenge.
For example, the comfort challenge. From reading the post in the "Comfort scores" thread and by going on comments made on my entry I think people overlook the fact that the challenge description was "This doesn't have to be fluffy. Shoot something that comforts you." It is an entirely different challenge than "shoot something that would be percieved universally as comfort."
just a suggestion ....

I agree. Good idea. This thread should also be moved to Web Site Suggestions.

For those that would like to see the challenge description with the image there is plenty of screen real estate to the left or right side of the image that could be used for this purpose. This would be displayed closer to where it is needed most and keep the scoring and comment areas close to the image.
Because it increases scrolling, I would not favor anything that further separates the image from the voting and comment areas as suggested.
To reduce screen clutter, my personal preference is we do not add the description to the page. It is already easily accessible with one mouse click from there should you need a reminder.

I think his point is valid, especially for people voting without an entry in the challenge.
Would be nice to utilize the available real estate to the left and/or right as you mention however.

Or perhaps, when the user mouses over a particular challenge description icon, a little "bubble" pops up with the complete description. This would take very little real estate away from the voting page and is fairly easy to implement via a hidden div and an Ajax request to a dummy page that serves up the challenge description.

I also "AGREE" about this, as so many people are voting and commenting my entry re "COMFORT" down low.....
They don't see what Comforts "MEANS TO ME". That's sad, as I think the image is a reasonable image, and doesn't warrant a score in the low 4's....,
After reading other scores, placed in the "Comfort" thread, I am sure others will agreeeeeeeee.....
The suggestions are valad so I do hope they will be looked at and hopefully implimented..... |

I guess nobody noticed when I suggested this. :(
Rules rewrite status and call for suggestions

Don't worry, its been suggested many many times, by many people. Maybe the option that bledford came up with will be suitable this go around.

What if, instead of a description on the page or whatever, whenever you get ready to vote, instead of the first picture, the description comes up, you click that you have read it and then you can proceed to vote.
Just a thought . . . |

If we get Microsoft to design it the process would be...
- Have you read the challenge description? Yes/No
- Are sure that your vote takes into account the challenge description. If you are certain, proceed. OK/Cancel
- WARNING! Voting incorrectly could damage the relative scores and averages of all images in this DPC challenge. This could also affect your personal voting statistics. DPC accepts no responsibility for incorrect challenge voting. OK/Cancel
