Just messing with a mirror and my son. Wanted to know if anyone else experienced problems with autofocusing. It either wanted to get the mirror or my son. And neither were in focus together. Wider apeture?
Any comments are welcome.

I tried setting up a shot with 3 broken pieces and two supporting side mirrors to get this shot, autofocus didn't work from what I remember, I focussed on the reflection and used a smallest aperture I could to get decent shutter speed.

That is a problem with the mirror shots. The AF will either pick up the edges of the mirror, or the image in the mirror. The focus distance to the image in the mirror is the total of the physical distance from the subject to the mirror plus the distance from the mirror to the camera. In order to get both in focus, you'll likely have to focus between the two distances, and so you're focusing on "nothing." Manual is the only way.

This is the only mirror shot I have done. I hated the stand. I wanted to use fishing line, and balance the cube right above the mirror.
Well, the cube kept moving, and I could never get the right angle.
I did like the photo, other then the stand.
Edit to say what kirbic stated is so true.
