I was so inspired by a photo I had to attempt to try an shoot one like it myself. I couldn't find the photo when I went back later to refrence it. So if anyone can identify the photographer please post them for me. I thought It would be nice to share this inspiration with everyone.

Thanks.. I think I like scalverts better. I have simular posses in a couple of shots and about the same angle as Scalverts. But I think it is the cloud that realy gives his a better sence of flying and Depth.

The shot could work at an angle, but the background has to match (an overhead background won't work with a side view rug). You'd also have to shoot with a window or large light in the background since there wouldn't be strong light falloff outdoors, and that could make it harder to eliminate shadows that reveal the trick.

For the ultimate flying carpet shot, nail or staple the rug in a wavy shape on top of a slightly smaller piece of plywood and suspend it with very strong monofilament fishing line in front of a REAL background at some altitude (a mountain or tall building). That was my original plan, but open mountain views are scarce in my neighborhood. ;-)

I thought about that but then screams of terror errupted, several colorfull versus of english followed and I had to dodge various debree that suddenly appeared in the air in front of me. I tryed to pursuade The model it was perfectly safe and that they do it all the time on TV. I about had her convinced but then her mother overheard the idea and suddenly the strange object began to apprar again. So after recovering from various bruises. I decided I was too sore to hang monofilamant fishing line from the bottom of my homemade ultralight airplane.

Seems like a good plan to me- probably much safer than my idea of suspending the rug from a few hundred helium balloons. ;-)
