While I don't believe that for a second (the RIAA and MPAA would like to put an end to fair use and even making a copy for yourself is not fair use!), I didn't actually make any comment on the legality, just on the conficting attitudes I see here.
I've seen people lambasted for using an image from DPC as their own personal desktop wallpaper.
I've seen mobs descend on poor unsuspecting bloggers who have simply tried to share a cool photo that they found with their friends.
Go ahead. Start a thread suggesting the sharing of CDs full of other peoples photos and see what happens ; )

Oh, I agree. Double standard. However, it's one of those things that human nature has a hard time grasping. I don't have any compunction sharing the music on my computer (Except I don't use file sharing software I mail DVD's full of songs). I wouldn't share pictures (other than to tell people "Hey look at this cool picture"
I think (not wanting to start a serious debate here) that it all boils down to we aren't trying to make money from these songs and we are not trying to pass these songs off as our own. We all know that people will and do just that with the photo's we see posted here and other places.
However, back to the original intent of this thread...I'm willing to share what I have too. |

I'm actually surprised by how possesive "artists" (especially a bunch of amateurs) are over their work. To me, art needs to be shared. Ah well, "one day we'll all be free".
Joining you back on the original intent vibe ...
The links I provided above really are very good ways to discover new music, as they provide suggestions based on what you tell them you like and dislike. It's like having an endless mixtape on tap 24/7!
Also check out //www.jamendo.com/ and //www.magnatune.com/
Edit: This is how it should be done.

Well Rob, it's getting close to a year since you asked for the CD's.
Did you ever discover any new great music?
