count me in. giant tcr0 (you gotta love dura-ace) and a trusty old hardtail marin mtb cutomised into a sort of 'cross bike. this is the bike that threw me off several years back and put me in hospital for a couple of months with a busted spine! great sport aint it?

used to ride a bit with henk vogels and lucy tyler before they went off and got famous..(when you don't win much yourself you gotta name-drop instead!)

Very cool! The name dropping part, not the busted spine part. That's not cool. I don't race - they need a Cat 9 for old, slow chicks with very limited handling skills before I'll try it, but I sure do love to ride!

Let me know when the Cat 9 races start - I'm there baby! So long as you ladies promise to take it easy on me :-)

I'll take on all you Dura Ace Cat 9 (LOL) riders with my little bad ass monkey bike!

Bring it on! Oh by the way, Lance Armstrong and I share the same birthday (September 18th). At the inaugural San Francisco Grand Prix, I was wanting to get Lance's autograph on my jersey but ended up getting George Hincapie who eventually won the race. I ended up getting his race number both from his shirt and the bike. I own a poster I created using over 500 images of the Posties that is signed by every single one from Thomas Weisel, to the coaches to the mechanics. All except for Lance! Damn it!

I'm a big fan of Hincapie. I have the utmost respect for strong, talented riders like him who can sacrifice themselves and ride as a domestique when asked to. He reminds me of Sean Yates and Phil Anderson late in their careers when they also rode as domestiques for Armstrong. Pure class.

Now *that's* gotta be one very sweet poster! I, too, am a fan of Hincapie - seems to be a true gentleman as well as one helluva bike racer.

And oh by the way, no DuraAce or Ultegra here. Just your basic Tiagra. Don't need any more than that. May *want* more, but don't need it. :-)

And Bankson, I tried my hand at a local race a few weeks ago - harder than it looks, particularly when it's cold and windy out!

Edit in that I meant to say I tried my hand at *photographing" a local race - I most certainly didn't attempt to race!

Me too!! :) I am more into using my bike for travelling and commuting than competing. I have a Trek 3900, Nokian Extreme studded tires for riding to work every day here in Reykjavik, and have done one mountain tour into the highlands of Iceland. Am planning the second one for this summer.

I think bicycling everywhere helps my photography. It lets you see things differently and you also notice things you wouldn't if you were in a car and finally you can easily stop and take a picture. I carry my camera everywhere and that is why I have not yet made the step up to a full DSLR. I currently use a pro-sumer 8mp camera with a 28- 200mm zoom. This is my favorite cycling picture I have taken with it so far: //img.photobucket.com/albums/v243/JeffryZ/Just_Do_It.jpg

I used to work on a bicycle race in Colorado and had the opportunity to see some of the greats- Greg Lemond at 18 years old, Bernard Hinault, Eddie Merkyx (showed up but didn't race- he was retired by then), and a friend of mine was a teammate of Lance Armstrong at Subaru. I may have met Lance, but did not know who he was at the time. Some of the great distance riders like Lon Haldeman and John Howard- winner of the first ever Hawiian Ironman. I was out on a training ride and came across the 7 Eleven team just a couple of days before they left to ride as the first American team ever in the Tour de France.

I ride a Trek mountain bike for commuting and an aluminum Motobecane road bike for real rides. I love Rikki's bike! That is great!
