After looking though the placement of the sins challenge I noticed (for the most part) That the higher ranked photos were very light and happy. Where the shots that conveyed any kind of deep or dark emotion did not score so well. Granted in general most people like more upbeat shots, but this was a Sins challenge. There is nothing happy and upbeat about that. IMHO as great a shot as the snails are there is nothing sinful about it, its a cute, well shot well exicuted photo, but IMO doesnot depict a sin (sorry PhilipDyer i dont mean to be singeling out your shot or putting it down) But anything that was angry, dark, maked you feel a bit icky didnt make it to the 1st page (with the exception of alexsaberi shot)

I think this is how some people want it (i.e. less focus on meeting the challenge theme). I have no idea why two snails humping each other has anything to do with sin (i.e. a human condition), let alone the aspect of sex being a sin. Which is why I don't see what all the fuss is about with the people complaining about voters penalizing photos based on strict theme interpretations. I just don't see the evidence of that. I think it all boils down to just one thing and that's wow factor. I doubt there was another photo of snails having sex in this challenge so it stood out (not to mention it was shot well.)

Well said. I fully agree with you two. Many of those photos would work in thematically different challenges, like happiness in the wild (I don't know, maybe to snails sex is hell!), or good time while I'm chewing this __ (insert: chocolate, strawberry, cookie). I definitely don't want to put down photos with a happy tone, but, I guess voters were supposed to see that here bad is good, ugly is beautiful.

O, anyway, all I want to say is that it's not only you and I saw this thread half an hour late.

well, it could have been a scream of happiness when his football team scores at the last minute.
