After seeing the first vote come in as a 4.0, I shook my head and switched off scores.
Just enabled and checked em: 106 votes later, it's made it up to 6.270
Higher than I predicted.

It's barely been 24 hours since the voting started. I would give it a bit of time my friend. You also have to remember that you entered an image ina field of well over 630+ entries. The last time we had something this large was the January Free Study. Comments normally come when you either have an impactful image or a really bad one. If you're hovering at an average score, comments are indeed hard to come by. However, I hope this doesn't deter you from continuing your commenting. If there's one thing I learned from this site is that I continue to learn through my commenting on people's photos. Let's all remember that one of the best things about DPC is that we are all here to learn from each other.
So don't fret. It's still early in the game ;)

Hé Thanx Rikki! I needed this. Never entered in such a big challenge (630+!!!! )I learn a lot of other peoples comments so that's why. I had a couple of great comments with other pictures. Not ooohs and aaahs but really helpfull! Maybe I'm a bit spoiled by those! haha. Well it keeps on dropping. But hey, it's still a nice pic in my eyes. Thanx again!
BTW: I won't stop my comments ;)

Heck mine went from a Awesome 2.6 to average 5.1 only 2 comments but almost doubled score in 24 hours. Dang I wanted a ribbon even if it was brown...

| gee, how do you guys get so many comments? i seem to suffer from submitting mediocre images (currently sitting around 5.3) that aren't good enough to warrant praise and aren't crap enough to warrant too much criticism. dunno how i'm going to get better if no-one tells me where i'm going wrong. |

I've been hovering around a 4.2 to a 4.3, so we're starting to inch up. If I can finish the challenge with at least a 4.5 I'll be happy. I've already submitted my entrant for the "comfort" challenge, and am contemplating ideas on the "painting with light" challenge (I keep thinking I should hire Thomas Kinkade for this challenge). |

I have the same problem on a lot of my entries. They can't get me most of the time on technical stuff because I am usually right on with exposure, focus, composition and saturation and they always meet the challenge. What apparently nobody likes to comment about is that they just think it is uninteresting or a bad subject. They just don't like it and they don't want to say that, so no comments are made. I finally had to reach out to a few people to find out if it was my subject that was keeping the scores low, and in most cases that is the reason.
Another thing that can give you a bad score is if you have taken a picture that is similar to one recently that scored well, or you are in competition with other photos in the challenge that are of same or similar subject, such as one of 10 bottle shots. When they vote they do recall other images that are similar in the same challenge, but they aren't going to go back to comment on yours that they think it is not as well done as the 9 others of the same idea in the challenge.

I am also a little disappointed, as I started with 5.9's and now down to 4.9s score.....
I know we have well over 600 entries but really was very pleased with my first duotone and also only my fourth entry in a challenge.....
In two comments I received high scores, but my score in now in the high 4.9s, so depressing.....

| I think good scores will be hard to come by on this challenge. I doubt everyone will be able to vote on all of the entries due to it's sheer size. I will try to comment on at least 20% of the entries (125+/-). I will comment on those specially that need help. Anyone else with me? |

No not you. I was just talking in general. I peaked high at one point hovering at 8+ with about 30 votes. Then got slammed back to reality. So where's your score G? I'll show if you do ;P |
