I remember that thread a while back about ideal cameras, where a lot of people (myself included) said we'd like a point-and-shoot camera with a good prime lens, and then I saw this on Adorama.com today:
Ricoh GR
Looks like it's a 28mm equivelant, f/2.4 prime. Kinda cool, but it's also pretty pricey. Just thought I'd post it
Here's the DPReview page, guess it's been out for a while:

I forgot where it was, but I posted a link in another thread where there is a new P&S camera by one company (Kodak maybe?) that has TWO lenses to choose from.
One of them is equivalent to a 23mm Prime lens. The other is a zoom.
There is a dedicated sensor for each.

In the Memory Lane category, once, long long ago in a place far far away, when I first developed an interest in photography, I had a Ricoh SRT 101, I think it was called.
Used it during high school then put it away and never really got it out much again. Gave it to my sister-in-law MANY years later and she used it for a bit (and did good work) until it developed a nasty light leak.
'Twas a good camera. |
