This is probably a dumb question, but what the heck.......
While I was at our daughter's swimmeet, I noticed that when I put my camera on the automatic sports mode, I got sharper, clearer pictures that I did when I put it on shutter priority. I was using my Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 lens. I'm wondering why that is, since in the shutter priority mode I had the shutter speed set to around 1/500, but the camera in sports mode had the shutter speed set anywhere from 1/125 - 1/200. It looks like that wouldn't have been fast enough to hand hold and still get the stop action and sharpness needed. |

In sports mode it switches to a tracking autofocus mode; it's keeping the subject in focus as it moves. Cool beans, eh? Check your manual for details; you don't have to be in sports mode to use it.

you might want to try turning on AI-Servo in your other creative modes, and you'll have the same focusing as in sports mode, only with more options. |

Oh, cool! Thanks! Looks like I'll need to get the manual out again. :) |
