Okay, I know both of these have been addressed before, but when I did a search it didn't come up.

I've had a request for prints. I have no idea how much to charge for them. Also, is there an affordable place that makes prints in the VA area? When I want to see what something would look like as a print, I usually just take it to Office Depot and let them print it on their laser printer. But, it seems if I'm going to sell it, maybe I should do something more formal?

There's only one photo place that I know of locally that can handle digital prints. They're 1) not that affordable, 2) Back when I was still using film, they destroyed two rolls of film on me. Neither of those roles could have been reshot.... especially since one of them had a picture I took of my grandfather just a couple of weeks before he died. All they offered me in compensation was a free roll of film. So, I won't take my stuff to them anymore, and I bad mouth them every chance I get.

Costco produces what I would consider to be quality prints. You can also place your order online & they offer free ICC/ICM profiles if you use a color-managed workspace. They are also the cheapest (in Arizona) at US$0.17 for a 4x6" print.

If you plan on using ICC/ICM profiles, Dry Creek Photo has a great howto at: //www.drycreekphoto.com/Frontier/using_printer_profiles.htm

Doesn't DPC also make prints?

I don't know. Do they? These particular pictures aren't here. They're over at PBase. I was really suprised when the person said he wanted them.

What size?

A lot of people really like WHCC (www.whcc.com). Others like Elco color labs who have amazing deals for poster prints (on Fuji professional crystal archive II paper)

Edited because Fuhi professional paper doesn't sound too nice...

Part of your paid membership includes the ability to upload and make/sell prints through your own gallery page:

//ragamuffingirl.dpcprints.com

You will need to submit prints for approval if you want to sell directly to the public, but you can order them for yourself without approval.

In addition to selling prints, anyone who follows your gallery link (above) and buys a print (anyone's!) will earn you a 25% commission on the sale.

Check it out ... : )
