Does anyone know of a good resource to explain/learn to use the fill-in flash? Thanks in advance,

I'm not sure there's that much to know about fill-in flash. I approach it this way - I take a few pictures, if the faces are dark and the background is light, I force the flash to fire. I usually leave the intensity at 0. If the sun is to their back, chances are good that fill flash is advantageous. It also keeps your subjects from squinting.

To answer your question, I don't know where a good place to look for something like that is. I tried photographytips.com, but its a restricted access page.

Good luck in finding it though. - Bob

There are two ways I look at using a fill-in flash.

If you are taking pictures outdoors and the background is bright or lighter than the subject, or the subject is in the shade, then a fill-in flash can help balance the image.

My flash has a fill-in flash on it. I use it by bouncing the main flash off of the ceiling or a wall and then let the fill-in flash do it's job straight at the subject.
