Now where is the post from jrjr appologising for his personal mudslinging...

I'm in for this challenge, first time in an open challenge in perhaps years. Got talked into it by a friend :-0
Hope it does respectably, but even if not, I like the shot...

Up to 576 entries, and we still have 2.5 hours est, but 5 on the west coast. Will it make 600? I think we will need an extra few days to vote on this one.

Don't worry, we only have 2.5 hours here on the West Coast too...

That being said, I will rate truly B&W pictures lower. This doesn't mean an automatic 3 or below, but rather I think my ceiling for B&W shots will be 7 or 8. I understand there is some confusion here and so will act with appropriate leeway. However, in photographic terms, a B&W is not a duotone.

Not to start in crap with ya my good Doc, but duotones can include black and grey as the two dutone colors and would resemble a B+W. My entry is a slightly warmed variant of Black and Grey.

Must've skipped the good parts... LOL...

I didn't read it all either .. does this mean the good Doc has changed his mind?? ;)

You didn't see the Jockey's in my mouth?

Let's say, for this challenge, I've agreed that B&Ws are just as valid as colored duotones.

To nitpick Leroy, there really isn't such a thing as a "warm" gray. I would say a gray, by definition, is neutral; once you warm it by adding red, you now have some tone other than gray. That being said, you could probably be subtle enough that to anybody it would look like a B&W. Heck, I worked up a blue version of my entry and sometimes I'd fool myself into thinking it was B&W.

I did figure out how to do a legal color duotone in PSP X legally (since I've been home sick for days). I still think I'm going to pull my entry, it's average and there are too many other entries .. I want to move up .. not down :)

Just submitted my entry. Used black and white as the colors for it, hopefully it won't get voted down (hey, the challenge description says black and white work.. actually changed it from black and off-white when I saw that)

WoW! almost 600 entries in this one... sheesh gonna be a long voting week. I have to say Kudos to who ever ribbons this one, and even those who top 10. thats going to be impressive.

Here's my entry that I decided not to submit. 400 submissions seems like a lot of competition. I think I'll try my luck at fashion instead. I'd love any comments though...

Oops, almsot 600 submissions!

The 600 barrier broken. Is there a record for submissions to a challenge? This must be right up there.
02/21/2006 10:47:16 PM · #92
I pulled mine .. and now I'm glad I did .. this is going to be bigger than a free study!!
02/21/2006 10:48:12 PM · #93
Possibly for an open challenge. The best of 2005 had well over 800.

The last Free Study had 600-something, and I managed to vote on all of them... took a long time though

Okay, here's the deal. I submitted a photo for the Duotones competition. I figure it's my first photo on this website, there may be more to follow in future competitions, we'll see.

No matter what, I gave it a good first shot. Perhaps it will wins some 10's, perhaps it will garner some 1's. But no matter what, it's still a competition and I did my best for it. As time progresses and more competitions arise, I will endeavor to try harder and do better - and maybe earn some ribbons in the process.

But for now, let's see how this competition turns out. Good luck to all.

Good luck to you, Chuck!
and welcome!

Well, I am staying in, though I hesitate to do it. Anyway, here are the other attempts at duotones that I tried. My entry has nothing to do with any of these, so nothing will be given away. If anybody wants to comment, I'll return them as soon as possible. Otherwise, I hope you enjoy at least one of them.

Wow Chuck .. my best wishes to you in this challenge and welcome to DPC :)

Well guys I am officially in Duotones! I just finished editing my shot. It only took 9 tries and a couple of outtakes but I am happy (at least for now... LOL!).

Let the madness begin. Here's hoping for a 5.75 in this highly contested challenge. I aimed for a 6.26 a while back but I will settle for a 5.75 as this will be a tough one.

Are you ready to rumble?

Trust me I was extremely tempted specially since I had a new model today :) But in the spirit of competitiveness (shhh but I just wanna beat Achoo again), I decided to join the bandwagon.

I'm sure Caleb and Fresco can keep you in good company.
