I have an entry in duotones but I am really debating on taking it out. After reading all the debates on what duotone is, the description of the challenge, etc .. I don't want to enter. I chose the b&w route. Now I think I'm going to pull my entry. I have the day off tomorrow and may try something for fashion instead. Thanks all for a great debate on this subject!!

Dang it Kat, now I look even worse! I'm scaring all the people away. Let me remind everybody that it actually wasn't me that originally was worrying that B&W would be voted down...

Don't leave him on his own again, y'hear?

Actually it's a good thing - I never knew there were other folders with other stuff to play with in duotones! Way cool.

And for the record - black and white is monotone, but a duotone can be black and white. :-)

I don't use PS .. so making a color duotone is not near as easy for me within the Basic guidelines.. I have PSP X and I've read all the stuff there about doing it legally .. it's not going to work!

I was going to enter this challenge but now I don't even know. I get bad enough scores on my own, I dont need to get voted down because I didnt meet someones definition of duotone. So could someone please clarify what duotone is exactly..?

does this count for duotone?

I don't think anybody would argue that that qualifies as a duotone.

OK, just to update everybody on my official position, I have received word from on high that B&W pictures were among the original intentions of the challenge creator; something apparent to everybody but me. I'll be happy, therefore, to give a B&W a 9 or a 10, but I will mutter under my breath about the downfall of civilization.

Let it be said that DrAchoo is not too big to stand corrected!

Well, now when I see a photo in duotones of dress whites, I'll know who's they are.

As to the black and white issue, why didn't they just title the challenge black and white? I have redone several pictures because I did them in nearly every tone under the rainbow, but I still stuck to a sepia style tone, though I did convert the image first to black and white, which I didn't originally do. Lets hope it works.

Thanks Doc. As one of the up coming stars, or should I say very talented person on this site. It doesn't take much from your level to influence how a challenge will be judged.
