Can't remember if I ever posted this one. This was taken Christmas weekend, 2005 on the Shenandoah River.

hrmm, I can't say for 100% sure. I am not from the area, my girlfriend's parents are. We were there for the weekend, and I decided to go to the Shenandoah and take some pictures...
I headed South on 81 from the Martinsburg area, and followed signs. I know I passed a huge Sheetz on the road where I got off the main highway (I ate the world's grossest Schmuffin, I'll never forget it).
Then I came up on the sign that said Shenandoah River Valley, was on that bridge in the picture, and took an immediate right...this was right at the bottom of that road.
--
Quite funny because then I decided to travel further down the road, and there wasn't anywhere to turn around for what seemed like 10 miles, so I just kept driving and driving and driving...everywhere was marked NO TRESSPESSING so I didn't even get out to take more pictures.
I've seen pictures of the Shenandoah River before, and really wanted to find the place where I've seen in the photos, but didn't have any luck that day. :(

I know exactly where you were. That is the Rte. 7 bridge, looking west. I cross that bridge on my daily commute from Winchester to Leesburg, VA. You see that faint outline of a building in the background between the two bridges? I photographed that back during the ABANDONED BUILDINGS challenge but ended up going with something else. Small, small world!
Very nice shot, by the way. You did a great job with the sky, and the kayaker is a perfect touch. Let me know next time you are out this way. |

haha yeah it's definatley a small world.
Every time I'm up at her parent's house, which isn't very often lol (as un-often as I can manage haha), I always want to get out and take some pictures...
I'll definately shoot you a PM next time I'm up there. There are so many roads and so many places to go. I usually just end up getting lost and finding my way back to a highway then head back lol.

hrmm...that's pretty close to Shenandoah University, right?
That's where my girlfriend will be going for her master's...
I'll probably be up there at some time or another. Maybe a few of us can get together some time and you can show me around heh.
