I'm planning on making a portfolio of some of my better pictures, and was wondering if anyone had any ideas/tips on how to go about doing this. I've looked at some sites on the internet, and was wondering if this is the best way to go about doing it...

Thanks for your help,
Kevin

You mean printed portfolio? Or online portfolio?

If you become a member here, you get a portfolio or did you have something different in mind?

pbase is decent - $15 for 300Mb and you can do LARGE images there if you want. Easier to 'browse' than here - click MyGallery link in my sig to see mine.

Join here and you get 25mb. click any use name and the second row of photos (assuming you see to rows) is from their portfolio - click the words above the photos deapee's portfolio as an example.

as for a printed port...I have started looking and am not at all happy at what I am finding. Many folks now use a book type (mypublisher, winkflash, illuma etc) but to change an image you have to reprint the book.

I also need one of these, by Monday. I'm looking at leather artist portfolios. I'm more confused really on how to present tear sheets. And, do I include the original image it came from?

Smugmug

is also great for an online portfolio. Unlimited uploads for as little as $40/year.

I made a pretty cheap one with 8x10's and 8x12's and people really like it. Not the most professional, but it works. I found these at Costco, 2 books for $12.99.

I got the one in the center with the single window and put a 4x6 photo card with my name and info on it. They say scrapbook, but work nicely to show off your stuff. The pages are 12x12, so 8x10's or 8x12's work. 20 pages each, with white dividers in the sleeves. Fully customizable so you can add more from the other book or buy extra sleeves.

Ya, that place blows on a Saturday, just hit up the free samples a couple times to get them back. ;-) The books are black leather, but they also have tan and brown leather if you like that. At ours they are in the office/school supplies.
