I was thinking last night of an interesting picture to take and that lead on to thinking the same sort of thing could be an interesting challenge. Doing "Asymmetric Symmetry" - sort of setting up your shot so it has a basis in symmetry (like the pose of your models, or objects as symmetrical) but it isn't actually symmertrical because you are using different people/objects.

Thoughts?

I think I know what you mean, but I'm not sure. I suppose its something which appears as if it should be symmetrical, but something is out?

ah something like that... like say two different people looking at each other... It looks symmetrical but theyre different people so its not. Something like that anyway.

i like it, but it probably won't get picked up---
Even the straight forward topics seem to get debated, as far as what fits. Doesn't stop any of us from creating an informal challenge.

Or a further idea for an informal challenge, what if we had a set of challenges where the topics were a little tougher like this one... say 10 topics (just for an example)... and then we had to submit on any 6 (again, example) of the topics. Then we would be comparing a small collection of photos. Obviously, it would be more than a week... maybe it would be two months or something. The topics would provide some guide, but there would be the freedom to exclude some of them.

Anyone want to create an informal, longer-term challenge amongst a smaller group?

hmmm I wasn't so sure about this idea as I was reading, putting a minimum submission limit on difficult topics could deter people, but when you suggest setting it over a month or so that could work well, it gives people a lot more time to comtenplate the entries.

Good idea, or it could be another based on, submit 6 different subjects all with one common element. Flora/Fauna/B&W/Macro/Mechanical/Nude.... How to include 1 thing to tie them all together.
