Well,I made it out there today and the pandas were pretty much asleep with their backs turned to the crowd. So I headed out to
see some other animals and tigers. It was very hard to shoot them there
as they are mainly visible through a couple inch thick plexy glass.
Yeah, 500mm at 1/45 sec, ISO 1600, f5.6. Good thing I pushed the lens
hood against the glass for support.

I used only my Bigma on an XT so I can have a 80-800mm zoom coverage. I never had a moment where I wanted more range, which was good. This is a perfect zoo lens, a 500mm supertele that lets you zoom back to a 50.

So I went back to the Pandas and made a few loops, they herd you
through so you can't stand there and shoot, you have to keep moving
b/c the exhibit is small and there are two adults that are seperated,
except one adult has a baby panda which really didn't move much from a
tree.

I think I made about 6 or more laps around the exhibit and on the
next to last one in the late afternoon, these lazy buggers were busy
munching on bamboos and actually facing the crowd. Most of my good
shots are from this loop. Then they got fed up again and turned
around again, so that their backs were to the crowd again.

I also made it out to the elephants and they always depress me as
highly intelligent and social animals that need a hugh roaming ground
is basically penned up in a small area. So I think my elephant shots
reflect that sadness. I also focused on their skin textures b/c the
pen had a stupid wire that went across and ruined any wide shots, so I
got in tight.
Comments and Critiques are welcomed.

I adore Pandas, they always look so benevolent. You've got some good shots there.
