Yes, I understand that the challenge was "already broken" and believe me this was done to keep many of you from breaking items around the house like many did in the first challenge. I did not have a shot for this challenge and when I came home at 7 pm I notice a crack in one of the eggs we brought home. I simply finished it off and placed it in the blue plate. This gave me the idea because I already had one egg epoxied to a stick in the basement from a past challenge, I believe it was "Odd" here you see an egg as it is being bathed in water.

Anyway, I decided to create this illusion. Yes, some will argue or suspect that the egg was just broken but I think very outside the box and I said, well, whoever looks at the image will have to decide if the egg is already broken by the time they look at the picture. Some refused to see an already broken egg and flattered me by believing the egg is just breaking with no past tense. lol I only kid.

To accomplish this shot and why it fools the average viewer is because they assume it is being dropped and expensive stroboscopic lights are catching the action. Otherwise, a step exposure would render the second egg on plate over exposed. It is a step and repeat exposures.

It is easy to do. You line up the shot and then you move away the broken egg to the side along with the red cloth. You then bring down the egg on the stick down in steps and fire a single strobe shot for each position and then bring back the broken egg for the final shot and you are finished. The purple tinge is due to the black light being in a bad position. I do this alone and this one took 4 takes but you are frantically making ends meet.

Anyway, here is a faithful jpeg of the raw.
