Instead of removing the Dust Bunnies, lets have a contest of them. Real one straight from the camera please. I just got my 20D back from Canon today with the new $360 sensor. I immediately went outside and took this pic of the blue sky. The circled Bunnies were visible at normal 8x12 viewing size. Am I being picky at f/32 blue sky since none of them are DARK black? So everyone grab your cam, go aoutside with blue sky, crank it to F/32 or there abouts and lets see how everyone else is compared to a brand new sensor. Post your pic here.

I might get a ribbon in THIS one, at least....
I happened to do this just this morning.
It looked plenty bad enough with a touch of levels(before and after)
But then once I hit auto levels, it got REALLY bad..... how can it look THIS bad when my photos still look fine?
I guess I need to try this again without sunflares adding to the mess ... might try an indoor job next time.

Ew! I think they're alive, Karin!
I haven't checked mine in awhile. Been using the rocket blower now and then though. Will see if I can post a pic later.

This was pretty grotesque, came out of nowhere a couple weeks ago. Note the "smear" middle-rightish.
After a sensor cleaning with eclipse and pec-pads:

Did you throw up into your camera while change lens or something? |

Finaly something I'm good at. :-).
This was the 20D sensor about August last year, shot at F/22 of white on my monitor (hence vignetting).
I live on a dusty shingle road, and don't clean the sensor quite as often as I should! This was my 'before' shot before cleaning. I use sensor swabs and eclipse, BTW.
Cheers, Me. |

Check out the Dust Bunnies in this shot (look at the sky)...

...even high-profile shots can suffer from this. ;^) Actually, I'm surprised they weren't cleaned up in PP.

Well maybe it's just normal to have some light dust bunnies even on brand new sensors straight from canon, maybe I'm just too picky |

| rofl you guys are to funny. I think I got a watermark on mine..how on earth do I get that off? The reason why I think it is water is because I went on vacation and took my camera to the pool area at the hotel. come home and ended up with a huge area that is dark then the rest. |

Nobody else thought it was strange to see sensor dust on images at a site like Sport's Illustrated?

Ok, I'm as big a fan of dust bunnies as the next guy, but what is this about a new sensor? Did I miss something? Can you upgrade sensors or this just replacing a bad one?
And to throw my name in the hat.... I was looking forward to this hike in the mountains for weeks. Once I got back from it and looked at my pics - THIS is what I see!

I am really surpised that a photographer who knew he was shooting one of the most viewed picture layouts in the free world did not clean the sensor before the shoot. Perhaps the dust was added afterwards as a subtle watermark for internet use?

Ouch you have a bunch a very mad bunnies running around in that pic. Follow the instruction on how to clean the sensor. I experimented somewhat as others said they cleaned their sensor. It ruined it and had to buy a new one for $360. It even came directly from the factory with bunnies. Not happy. They want me to go without the camera again and for me to pay the shipping to send it back. I figure after $360 they could supply a return postage authorization ... nope. The sensor was about $85 the rest was labor. |

Interesting theory. Maybe the photographer had some deal where the shots were just turned over to Sport's Illustrated and someone in-house works them over prior to publication?
Seems to me that sense of pride alone would be enough to clean them up, either way (photographer himself, or anyone working PP).

I didn't see one either. I even looked 3-4 times. Perhaps I should check again?
